King Tomislav Square is a central public space in Ploče, situated between residential buildings with ground-floor commercial spaces. It is used daily by children, retirees, travelers from the port, and locals, giving it strong potential to become an inclusive space for daily encounters and outdoor living.
The project was designed to respect the existing spatial framework and draw inspiration from current identity elements and geometric pavement patterns.

Along the northern and eastern edges of the square, a light steel structure with climbing plants was installed—a design and functional element that divides the space into private and public zones, creating a play of shadows and a favorable microclimate.
On the raised green edges of the square, low shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses were planted instead of grass. The resulting space is more comfortable for outdoor use and has a more intimate character. It interprets existing spatial relationships while adapting them to modern needs.

Mobile modular elements with various use possibilities were placed on the square’s surface, enabling flexibility, from informal lounging and play areas to exhibitions, pop-up markets, and public events. Thus, the space becomes a vibrant urban environment for all users.
