Green Infrastructure

Lenije Park—the largest park in Vinkovci—is an open urban area along the Bosut River with the potential to increase the city ecosystem’s resilience to climate change.

Through a pilot green infrastructure development project in Lenije, other open spaces with ecological and social functions were also identified as necessary for building a resilient and stable network that addresses growing environmental challenges in urban areas.

By landscaping these spaces and connecting them through continuous urban green corridors into a unified green infrastructure system, the project strengthens local community resilience to climate change and promotes sustainable natural resource management.

As outlined in the City of Vinkovci’s Green Urban Renewal Strategy, the planned ecological framework enhances urban biodiversity and quality of life while shaping a recognizable city image.

With its distinctive presence, the connected green structure defines the space and responds to the community’s needs, the environment, and the contemporary city.
