Status
The Velika Stancija complex is a valuable countryside estate in the heart of Savudrija. It was developed following conservation and landscape restoration guidelines.The goal was to preserve and interpret the 19th-century rural landscape character within a contemporary context, where the new tourism function does not diminish but highlights and strengthens the site’s existing values.
The design focused on preserving and spatially reading the original layout, representative gardens and courtyards without formal park structuring, emphasizing the garden’s stylistic and landscape features while adapting to its new purpose within the restored space. New features—such as zones for cultural events, meditation, and relaxation—were carefully integrated into the site in line with its meaning and purpose.
The space is articulated into four thematic zones, which create a coherent and distinctive environment through the combination of cultural heritage and functionality. Communication paths were restored, spatial axes and key viewpoints emphasized, resulting in a clear spatial structure and a new image of Velika Stancija.
